Farewell Feral For Now
These past twelve months have been shit. So much has changed and we are forced to change with it. Next week we will be leaving this beautiful place that we have been so fortunate to call home for nearly a decade. With that, we won’t be brewing any Feral beers for a while.
However, we have one more beer for you. It was brewed just before beer was made illegal in South Africa for the third time, and it will be serving on tap at Shackleton until it’s gone. Grab it tonight while you check out another awesome new beer launching there. These guys need your support now more than ever. Craft beer is in a tough place right now in South Africa, and it really hurts to be leaving at such a time.
Feral started it’s journey back in 2018 with a collab brew called Break & Enter, brewed with our great friends at RHBC. I will be forever grateful to Niall for this opportunity and his endless support and advise. As will I to Stef from Little Wolf who was really instrumental in getting Feral off the ground, and had been a constant source of support ever since.
Our second home has been Shackleton since we started gypsy brewing there back in 2019. It’s an amazing spot, where we’ve made some pretty cool beers. Steve has put up with the absolute pedantic pain in the ass I am, always with his legendary smile in tact. I cannot thank him enough for this, we had some great fun together and my love for Shackleton will never fade. Their Kolsch in cans is an epic beer, perfect for the South African heat, please make this your go to easy drinking beer of choice, instead of the macro alternatives.
Rochelle from ACBC has been an absolute legend since the start, always assisting us with canning at such short notice. The canning quality from them is phenomenal, and I have age tested some of our more hoppy beers way past their best and they still hold up. Mostly though, I just want to thank Rochelle for also putting up with me, I love you lots!!
There are so many other people to thank, but you all know who you are and what you have done to help grow Feral. Most importantly I want to thank everyone who ever bought one of our beers. You guys are epic and I am so glad to have shared this journey with each and every one of you.
As I said in the title, this is farewell for now, not farewell for ever. We will be back, I am not sure when, but I know it will happen.
Lots of love, stay safe everyone. Cheers, Mike
